Earn LEED Credits with Atlas Copco VSD Compressors
Atlas Copco’s industrial compressed air systems can enable project teams to earn credits for the LEED® Certification of New Construction Projects, Major Renovations, or Existing Buildings, according to a third-party LEED Accredited Professional with ABOVE Green LLC.
“Atlas Copco’s Variable Speed Drive (VSD) compressors offer approximately 35 percent energy savings versus the use of conventional air compressor systems,” said Paul Humphreys, vice president of communications and branding for Atlas Copco Compressors LLC, a compressor manufacturer that is also a member of the United States Green Building Council. “This superior energy performance results in cost savings, reduces the carbon footprint of a building and positions project teams to qualify for 12-13 LEED Credit points in the Optimize Energy Performance category.”
When Atlas Copco’s VSD compressors are integrated with an energy recovery system, or Atlas Copco Carbon Zero compressed air system, the recovered heat can provide up to 100 percent of a facility’s hot water supply. The implementation of this technology provides projects with at least one point in the Innovation in Design category and increases the number of points available in the Optimize Energy Performance category.
Atlas Copco’s high efficiency industrial compressed air systems assist project teams in complying with the minimum performance requirements of the ASHRAE 90.1 – 2007 Standard, which is a prerequisite for projects seeking LEED Certification.
