Product Specialist

Hitachi America, Ltd. (HAL: is looking to hire a full time experienced Product Specialist for our Compressor Division (ATG) located in Charlotte, NC. The Product Manager will manage product information, marketing, and introductions (including market development, promotion, market intelligence, sales assistance and sales training for Hitachi Air Technology partners). This person is the ”lead” contact for Marketing Support and OEM /Strategic Accounts. This person shall research and provide input to Japan-side development group concerning product improvements and enhancements needed for the North American Market.

Responsibilities will also include:

  • Price Management: Manage Price for the product portfolio - Understand current financial metrics and goals for the Air Technology Group. Assess field discount requests along with Revenue targets. Monitor internal marketing programs for effect on the channel and market cost ratio targets.
  • Training: Create training program(s) and teaching materials and conduct training of all ATG Partners of the "Value" of Hitachi Products. Create, maintain and publish application notes detailing specific application considerations for proper use of ATG Products and ancillary equipment. Participate in training of sales personnel re. how to sell and apply our products along with preparation of appropriate marketing materials.
  • Commercialization: Review and publish brochures and product descriptive documents. Coordination with all departments as necessary.
  • Sales Assistance: Assist our distribution sales personnel in their efforts to sell our products.
  • Product Development: Solicit channel and end customer input to identify product enhancements, consumables, ancillary devices and services needed. Work with Senior Manager and communicate to Japan-side for new product/business opportunity consideration.
  • Partner Qualification: Lead US investigation of potential suppliers for ancillary devices that complete the Air Technology Portfolio and create additional value to the end customer and our distribution partners.
  • Trade Shows/Expositions: Qualify & Participate with other HAL business groups to strengthen the Hitachi Brand Value to prospective customers.
  • Market Intelligence: Benchmark customer value, competitive activities, and competitive comparisons. Create and maintain databases which capture appropriate statistics to manage the market side of our business.


  • BS in Marketing or Engineering is preferred
  • 5 - 10 years product marketing/development experience in the industrial market is required Compressed air industry experience is preferred
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong coordination skills
  • Working knowledge of budgeting and ability to minimize costs
  • Ability to travel as required
